Deep Dive Musings | Using Sugar For Loneliness

Have you ever used sugar for loneliness? Do you numb your emotions with Netflix?

I’ve made it a mission in life to become more cognizant of my actions. I believe that awareness brings the opportunity for change through new choices. So naturally, when I realized that my eating habits were out of alignment with what I want in life, I had to take a step back and look at what I was doing, and why.

In this episode of The Deep Dive with Adam Roa, I talk about self-soothing through the use of food. After a week of eating meat, gluten, dairy, and refined sugars, I didn’t feel right. I felt that I was coping with food and in this podcast episode I explain what was happening and how I got back on track.

Here’s what you’ll hear:

  • How the denser energy of meat can ground you
  • How lighter foods aid more spiritual communication
  • Why it’s important to not eat factory farmed meat
  • Different ways you might be numbing your feelings

The most important thing I do when I look at my eating habits is to make sure that I don’t judge myself, but rather, address the choices from a reflection standpoint. I sit with the “Why?”

I don’t think it’s bad to have periods of eating meat, gluten, or sugar as long as it’s still in alignment with what is serving me in that moment. We can support ourselves on our spiritual journeys through food, as long as we don’t use them as a way to escape our feelings.

If you’ve ever found yourself eating something that makes you feel physically and emotionally upset afterwards, then this episode is for you. I give you a tool for how you can shift into alignment after a period of regret.

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to this. I hope that you’ve gained awareness about how you might be using food or other distractions from becoming the full expression of yourself.
